Bright lights on the eastern horizon
Shine like a beacon on me,
Half hour til the morning is risin'
With a wind from the south
And a rain blowin' in from the sea.

Sad songs from San Antonio
Crackle in the lightning above,
You just know there are angels all through the air
As you roll half-awake through the rain to the one that you love.

And you know there should be some kind of fairy tale
Something sung low to a child,
With a melody too pure to ever quite die
To drown the drone of the wheels
And un-mesmerize the motionless miles.

     Well hey diddle diddle,
     The cat and the fiddle,
We'll dance by the light of the moon.
     The sheep's in the meadow,
     The cow's in the corn,
     And I'll be home soon.

Some people wait for their fortune
To tumble from the mail in their hands,
Some people wait for their portion,
Ridin' on a word or a hope
They don't quite understand.

Don't care about the riches of Solomon,
Don't care about no rate of exchange,
Don't carry no medal or icon,
When her heart's all I need
And it leads to the morning again.

There's a rose outside of Victoria
Bloomin' in the dawn in the rain,
You pick your dreams like the songs you sing,
We're all chasin' some myth
Who's to say whole ridin' in vain?

     So hey diddle diddle,
     The cat and the fiddle,
We'll dance by the light of the moon.
     Just keep the bed warm,
Keep your light in the storm,
     And I'll be home soon.
